INSPIRATION
Inspired by the abundance of construction in Dubai and the preservation of local heritage, the chair, 'Grounded' , is a celebration of the city’s commitment to its roots.
I had the honour to present my work at the region's largest design platform, Dubai Design Week. My university, the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) partnered with Vitra, an internationally renowned furniture company to compose the ‘KURSI’ (meaning ‘chair’ in Arabic) exhibition.
Given just over a month to produce a chair, my initial concept parted into two complementary ideas, which resulted in ’Grounded’ and ‘Suspended’.
It was a delight to exhibit my chairs alongside limited ‘CHROME’ & ‘GLOW’ editions of the iconic Panton Chair.
